On the first weekend of November (06-07.11.2021) we went to the Lower Silesia (south-west Poland) in order to collect samples for the project of the AMU Poznań Chapter of the AAPG entitled “Reactions of magmatic alloy with a mantle and enrichment in metals in paleomoho ophiolite zone of Ślęża”. On the first day we made observations in the outcrops and gathered samples from Pustków Wilczkowski and Góra Kunowska near Kunów (including an abandoned, small quarry). During the following day, we searched for geological exposures at the slopes of Wieżyca and Ślęża mountains. Finally, with the sky turning dark we managed to collect some samples from the Tąpadła Pass, were we ended our expedition. The samples will be used in our laboratory studies, while fieldwork is planned to be continued next year, in spring.
Students from University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań (members of our chapter) along with MSc and PhD students from University of Wrocław and Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) were lead by the supervisors of the project: Dr. Jakub Ciążela (ING PAN) and Dr. Wojciech Stawikowski, our faculty advisor (AMU).
We would like to thank all participants and our supervisors. We are grateful for the opportunity of taking part in this project and are looking forward to learn and expand our knowledge from it.
