On 15th of January 2018 as a part of the AAPG Visiting Geoscientist Program our guest was the most
prominent specialist of seismic data analysis in Poland – prof. Piotr Krzywiec from the Polish
Academy of Sciences with the topic “Interpretation of seismic data from compression areas”. The
lecture was about the rules in geological interpretation of thrust and inversion structures on seismic
profiles. Discussed structures were examples from Poland as well as from the world. Mr Krzywiec
told us about the utility of seismic, including using it to reconstruct developed structures and to
analyze petroleum systems.
